As you read this, I am on my way to Rome for the Jubilee Pilgrimage we’ve been planning over the past several months. I believe most of our pilgrims are parishioners, with a few others joining us from different parts of the diocese.
Although I’m technically using vacation time for this trip, it is not a vacation—it is a pilgrimage. That means our purpose is not sightseeing or leisure, but prayer and spiritual renewal as we visit many of the sacred sites throughout Italy.
While I wish I could take all of you with me, I know that’s not possible. Still, that doesn’t mean I can’t take you with me in prayer. Please know that I will be praying for each one of you at the holy places we visit. If you have a specific prayer intention, I invite you to email it to me. I may not be able to reply due to limited time and internet access, but I promise to read your intentions and include them in my prayers.
I will remember you especially this Sunday as we celebrate the anniversary of the rededication of our Cathedral. Although I won’t be with you in person, I will offer my Pro Populo Mass—for the people of the parish—for all of you.
Since I’ll be away through Friday, November 14, there will be no Lines of Faith next week. One of our volunteers prepares most of it, but I review and finalize it each week, adding the links for special collections and the attendance graphs.
Finally, as I carry you in prayer during this pilgrimage, I ask that you please pray for me as well—especially that all goes smoothly and that I return home safely on November 14.
